May - Salmonella in sprouts
More than 350 people were sickened by Salmonella from mung bean sprouts in South Australia and the Northern Territory.
South Australian authorities did not initially name the firm at the centre of the Salmonella Saintpaul contamination but later revealed affected sprouts were produced by Star Tu and Sunshine Sprouts was a packer of the products.
Illnesses had been reported since the start of December in South Australia and from April in the Northern Territory.
