December - Salmonella in eggs
Saving the biggest until last, ten countries have reported 183 confirmed and 246 probable Salmonella enteritidis cases with a link to eggs.
Fermy Drobiu Woźniak (Wozniak Poultry Farms) has been named as a source by some agencies but the firm has told us that there had been no confirmed cases of illness caused by eating its eggs.
Outbreak cases are from Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the UK.
Sixteen cases are associated with travel to Austria (1), Cyprus (1), Greece (1), Hungary (3), Italy (1), Poland (8) or Portugal (1).
A further assessment by ECDC and EFSA will be in January next year.
