Per Friberg, region manager (Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore), said the Middle East was a very busy market for JBT. "It has been a surprisingly good growth market for us. We have been in it for around 30 years now, opening in the more premium end of the market, which this region is adapting to," he said. "They are investing in the latest R&D. The Middle East, China and south-east Asia are key focuses for us. Another driver for us in the meat industry is the fast food industry," added Friberg. He said that JBT predominantly supplied individual complete line concepts, but it can also supply individual units, and was showcasing its modular line concept at the show. He said the newest addition was its Double D searer/grill marker, which is designed to enhance a wide range of finished products. JBT was also showcasing its sterilisation system, called Hydromatic, which can be used for luncheon meat, said Friberg. It can be used for shelf-stable products and is a continuous system to there is no energy wasted by switching the system on and off, he said.
