June: Benecol withdrawn due to yeast fermentation
June: Johnson & Johnson withdrew more than 60,000 Benecol Peach and Apricot yoghurt drink from retailers, due to yeast fermentation.
Consumers may find that some bottles may be bulging or that the product appears or tastes fizzy.
Three batches of the product – totalling 63,600 consumer packs – were recalled at retailer level in response to the complaints.
It related to consumer packs containing six 67.5g bottles of Benecol Peach & Apricot Yogurt Drinks which originated in Switzerland.
Johnson & Johnson said complaints from consumers said that the product was fizzy or the bottles popped open and results suggested that yeast fermentation was the most likely cause of the problem.
