Recalls that hit the headlines in 2013
April: McCoy’s potato chips recalled by KP Snacks
April: KP Snacks said a production line malfunction was the cause of plastic contamination in four variants of McCoy’s potato chips.
Products affected were a 6-pack and 15-pack of ‘the classics’ - salted, salt & malt vinegar and cheddar & onion – and two other 6-pack flavours; cheddar & onion and salt & malt vinegar with Best Before dates of 15 June 2013 and 3066 code.
In an emailed statement sent to our sister site BakeryandSnacks.com, the company said the recall was prompted by a “small number of complaints” from consumers regarding pieces of plastic.
“As a responsible food manufacturer, KP Snacks takes the issue of the quality of its products very seriously. A full investigation has been undertaken and we have isolated the cause to a malfunction of one production line at our Teesside factory.”
