Food Safety recall round-up 16-22 October
FSA and Barton Farm Dairy
October - England: Barton Farm has been advised by the FSA to stop selling raw drinking milk after tests found samples containing levels of micro-organisms that breach regulations.
The firm said its raw milk sales have been stopped due to elevated microbiological count in the milk taken at 30 degrees after being heated for three days. It later found a split liner in the wash pipe that caused the problem.
FSA rejected Barton Farm Dairy’s claim that the action was harassment adding it was a 'completely unfounded allegation'.
Barton Farm Dairy was advised to recall a batch of Kentisbury Down soft cheese because of Salmonella. A statement on the firm's website said the farm is now closed.
"Barton Farm Dairy would like to inform our customers that our Kentisbury Down cheese has been recalled. Our own test results show that no Salmonella was detected in the sample taken from the same batch sent on the same day.
"Samples also taken by the FSA subsequently show negative for Salmonella but as a precaution they would like to recall it."
