Consumers find metal in pepperoni
US: Hempler Foods Group LLC is recalling 4,068 pounds of pepperoni sticks that may be contaminated with metal.
The firm notified FSIS after receiving three consumer complaints reporting metal pieces in the pepperoni but there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the products.
Pepperoni stick items were produced on 10 October 2017, said the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS).
They were distributed for institutional use and shipped to retail in Eastern Washington.
Affected product is 2.25-lb. vacuum-packed items with “Hempler's Family Classic Pepperoni Natural Smoke Flavoring Added” packed on date 10/10/2017 and case code 59716.
