Food safety recall round-up 8-18 May 2017
Undeclared milk in coconut milk powder
Hong Kong: The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) has found prepacked coconut milk powder that contained milk which was not declared on the label.
Organic Coconut Milk Powder (also known as Organic Coconut Cream Powder) branded Family Farm Organics 2kg from Indonesia is affected.
A spokesman said: "While investigating a food complaint, the CFS collected the above-mentioned sample from a restaurant in Central for testing. The test result showed that the sample contained milk, a food allergen, but the ingredient was not declared on the product's food label."
CFS followed up with the supplier/importer concerned and has instructed it to stop sale and remove from shelves all batches of the affected product.
The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.
