Food safety recall round-up 8-18 May 2017
Fish meat under declared amount in fish fingers
Czech Republic: Czech authorities have identified 'fake' fish fingers and ordered them to be withdrawn from the market.
Státní zemědělská a potravinářská inspekce (SZPI) instructed Iceland Czech to remove Birds Eye - "Made with 100% fish fillet" 224g, date 7/2018 and batch designation 61-02 A L7010CL066.
The packaging stated "Ingredients: minced fish meat (62%)". However, analysis by the SZPI laboratory confirmed 49% of fish meat in the product.
Laboratory analysis also found presence of allergenic substances, namely milk proteins and mustard, not declared on the packaging.
