Food safety recall round-up 20-26 January 2017
Chicken recalled due to potential process defect
US: Hans Kissle Company is recalling 6,348 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken due to a process defect resulting in the potential survival of bacterial pathogens.
The microwavable ready-to-eat chicken bowl items were produced from December 1, 2016 to January 16, 2017 and shipped to a grocery store chain (Roche) in the Massachusetts area, said the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS).
16-oz. lidded bowls containing Roche brand “R Kitchen Sweet & Sour Chicken" and “R Kitchen General Tso’s Chicken” are affected.
The problem was discovered by FSIS personnel during routine in-plant verification but there have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury.
