Food Safety recall round-up 24 April - 1 May
Staphylococcus concerns for cheese
La Maison d'affinage Maurice Dufour Inc. is recalling Le Migneron de Charlevoix cheese because it contains the toxin produced by Staphylococcus.
The 140g cheese has a best before of July 2014 and lot code 260294.
The recall was triggered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) test results. The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.
Food contaminated with Staphylococcus toxin may not look or smell spoiled. The toxin produced by Staphylococcus bacteria is not easily destroyed at normal cooking temperatures, said the CFIA.
