Food Safety Recall round-up 9-16 January
Meat produced without inspection recalled
13 January - USA: Rancho Feeding Corporation has recalled more than 41,000 pounds of meat products because they were produced without the benefit of full federal inspection, said the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS).
Beef carcasses and boxes have the establishment number "EST. 527" inside the USDA mark of inspection. Each box has the case code number “ON9O4.”
Beef feet, oxtail, hearts, liver, cheeks, tripe and tongue are involved in the recall of 41,683 pounds-worth of product.
Products were produced 8 January and shipped to distribution centers and retail establishments in California.
The problem was discovered as a result of an ongoing investigation. FSIS believes the company produced product without full ante-mortem inspection as per federal regulations.
