Food Safety Recall round-up 9-16 January
Chocolate coins recalled due to undeclared milk
14 January - USA: Paskesz Candy Company is recalling its Premium Belgian Chocolate Coins Hologram .5 oz bags because they may contain traces of milk not mentioned on the label.
One parent has reported that her child was ill after eating one of the coins with the production code P233. Testing of a sample by the FDA showed that the coin contained milk in 41 parts per million.
The recalled "Coins" were distributed nationwide in retail stores between October 2012 and December 2013. It is sold in mesh bags of .5 oz. There are 24 bags in a box.
The recall started after it was discovered the milk-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not list milk.
Sale and distribution of the chocolate coins have been suspended until FDA and the company are certain that the problem has been corrected.
