Fishless fingers
Premium UK retailer Waitrose launched vegan fish fingers this month.
The ‘Fishless fingers’ are made from breaded seaweed tofu with a crispy coating and have a “subtle fish flavour”, according to the retailer.
It also launched an own-brand vegan tartar sauce made from silken tofu, gherkins, capers, lemon and parsley in conjunction with the fish finger alternative.
Chloe Graves, purchaser for chilled vegan and vegetarian products at Waitrose & Partners said: “After the successful launch of our new vegan and vegetarian range in October 2018 we’ve been working to see what other interesting dishes and products we can add to the range. The Fish'less'fingers are a great vegan alternative to a much-loved food which we hope our customers will love.”
Available around the UK and online, the product has an initial price of £3.19 (€3.55). From the 30th January, it will retail for £3.99 (€4.44).
