PAH limit exceeded
Austria: Brajlovic Austria has recalled two products due to high levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
'Brajlovic Rinderrauchfleisch Suho Meso' 300-400g with date 27-10-17 lot number 52416/1 and 30-9-17 number 48416 is involved.
'Brajlovic Govedi Prsut' with date 10-9-17 and lot number 48416 is also affected.
The company said an investigation found the content of PAHs was higher than the maximum. The entire inventory has been removed from sale.
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are a generic term for aromatic compounds formed and released during incomplete combustion or pyrolysis (burning) of matter such as waste or food.
Maximum levels (MLs) have been set in certain foodstuffs via Commission Regulation (EC) No 1881/2006.
