Food Safety recall round-up 16-22 January
Allergens prompt meat recall
21 January - USA: Holiday Foods is recalling 1,819 pounds of beef, chicken and pork products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergens.
Products may contain peanuts, a known allergen, which are not declared on the product label, said the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS).
Products subject to recall were produced between August 5 and December 8 and were shipped to wholesale distributors in Illinois, Indiana, Florida, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Texas.
The problem was discovered when Holiday Foods was told by its spice supplier that the cumin in a spice mix used to formulate the products may have been contaminated with peanuts. Holiday Foods then informed FSIS.
