Metal concerns prompts biscuit recall
21 June - Germany: The Verden biscuit and wafer factory Hans Freitag GmbH & Co. has recalled a number of biscuit products due to metal contamination concerns.
Products were sold through different trading companies, including Aldi Nord and Süd, Edeka and Netto Marken-Discount.
The foreign bodies are about 4cm long, very thin and wavy, and could be clearly visible or baked in the cookies partially or completely.
The firm said despite it having metal detectors some may not have been found but added that waffles are not affected.
It described the contamination as a "metal hair" which came from a wire brush used by a supplier.
