Pesticide limit exceeded in rice
2 June - Norway: Rice has been pulled from the market after the discovery of pesticides over the regulated limit.
Asian Bazar AS recalling rice produced by Pari and sold to independent grocery stores in the country.
Sampling of the rice found 0.15mg/kg of chlorpyriphos and the limit by Norwegian regulation is 0.05mg/kg.
Pari Agro Eksports rice 5kg bags with best before date 1/2015 are affected. It was imported to Norway on 1.8.2013 and totalled 18,000kg.
Chlorpyriphos is an insecticide that is moderately toxic to humans but the limit found is not acutely harmful to health, said the recall notice.
