Antibiotics found in fir honey
13 February - Greece: EFET’s Regional Directorate in Attiki and its partners have found the presence of antibiotics (tetracyclines) in fir honey after sampling.
The implicated product is “Fir Honey of Mainalos origin” (in Greek: “Μέλι Ελάτης Μαινάλου”), with best before date 30.9.15, in a package of 950g, produced by “K. Mouroutsos, Lagkadia Arkadias” (“Κ. ουρούτσος, Λαγκάδια Αρκαδίας”).
EFET and its partners, the Directorate of Rural Economy and Veterinary of the Prefecture Unit in Arcadia, Prefecture of Peloponnese and the Veterinary Laboratory in Chania, requested the product's withdrawal.
