Food Safety Recall Round-up 14-20 February
Fallout from Rancho recall
18 February - Canada: El Monterey brand Taquitos and Tornados are being recalled because they are believed to pose a risk after using products from Rancho Feeding Corporation.
Ruiz Food Products used some of the beef products recalled earlier this month from Rancho "because it processed diseased and unsound animals and carried out these activities without the benefit or full benefit of federal inspection".
Beef & Cheese Taquitos – Flour Tortillas come in a 20 count and have dates of 05/19/2014, 10/14/2014 and
10/17/2014. Ranchero Steak Tornados in a 4.5lb (24 count) have 13,135, 13,281 and 13,287 on the pack.
The national recall was triggered by the US and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.
