Food safety recall round-up 18-24 November 2016
Possible Listeria in soup
USA: Hale and Hearty Soups is recalling 455 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken chili soup due to possible Listeria monocytogenes.
It was produced and packaged on 9 November with an 12/9 expiration date and was shipped to food service distributors in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Vermont.
The problem was discovered during routine verification testing and there have been no confirmed reports of illness or adverse health effects, said the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS).
FSIS and the company said they were concerned some of the recalled product may be in food service distribution refrigerators.
