Cadmium levels too high
27 September - Belgium: Chevideco has informed customers that some horse meat should not be eaten due to high levels of cadmium.
The distributor said it was made aware via the RASFF European alert system that it contains too high cadmium content.
Exceeding the standard cadmium does not cause immediate danger to health, but it can be harmful over a long period.
The product which has best before date of 2 October has been sold at some Intermarche, Colruyt and Cora stores.
