Search is on for World’s Best Steak

A new international competition, from the team behind GlobalMeatNews, launches today (5 June) - the World Steak Challenge.

The chance to be able to promote your business as producing the World’s Best Steak is surely the ultimate accolade when it comes to steak production, so if believe you produce a top quality steak, then make sure you enter.

The competition itself will enable producers to benchmark themselves against international competitors and to use the publicity and recognition that the Challenge generates to promote their products on the world stage, in addition to boosting domestic sales.

Entries are eligible from farmers, producers or suppliers of cattle or meat products from farmed cattle, for sale in retail and/or foodservice outlets, anywhere in the world.

Entrants will be required to submit two uncut loins per individual steak (sirloin or striploin) entered, from the same animals, to an agreed location in the UK.

Gold and Silver standards will be awarded following the first round of technical judging, with a second round of judging then taking place to decide the World’s Best Steak Producer 2015. The winner will then be announced at a special event at The Lookout in Hyde Park, London on Thursday 15 October.

Georgi Gyton, deputy editor, GlobalMeatNews, said: “We launched the World Steak Challenge because we believed there was a real gap in the market for an international meat competition. We were keen to develop a challenge that would be beneficial to the producers who enter, offering them a platform to promote their products, but also providing a bit of entertainment and fun for the consumer.

“We are also looking to promote the joy and benefits of eating steak as part of a healthy balanced diet. And while there are certainly some countries that spring to mind when you think of the ultimate steak, we are sure that there are many untapped steak havens around the world, just waiting to be discovered.”

The deadline for entries is 14 August, and all the details as to how and why you should enter can be found at worldsteakchallenge.com, along with the terms and conditions of entry.

The World Steak Challenge is organised by William Reed Business Media, which already houses a number of hugely successful international events in its portfolio, including The World’s 50 Best Restaurants and the International Wine Challenge.
