Clostridium botulinum concerns in salmon
Scotland: Ru An Fhoder Smokehouse is recalling two products due to concerns about procedures to control Clostridium botulinum.
Food Standards Scotland said manufacturing controls that could potentially affect safety of the products could not be demonstrated satisfactorily by the manufacturer.
Scottish Farmed Hot Smoked Salmon (vacuum packed) individual salmon fillet portions and sides with dates up to and including 6 May 2018 and Scottish Farmed Hot Smoked Salmon (cold smoked) (vacuum packed) individual salmon portions, trimmings and sides up to 6 May are affected.
Botulinum toxin may cause a serious form of food poisoning called botulism and can be fatal. No Clostridium botulinum has been identified in the recalled products.
