Salmonella outbreak linked to eggs
US: Rose Acre Farms has recalled more than 2m eggs due to contamination with Salmonella Braenderup.
Eggs were distributed from the farm in Hyde County, North Carolina to consumers in Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia through retail stores and restaurants via direct delivery.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are investigating an outbreak with 23 cases in nine states with six hospitalizations.
A subsequent recall was made by Cal-Maine Foods, which purchased eggs from Rose Acre Farms.
Eggs are sold under brand names including Coburn Farms, Country Daybreak, Food Lion, Glenview, Great Value, Nelms, Sunshine Farms, Publix and Sunups.
