Food Safety Recall round-up 16-22 June 2018
Sulphites in chlorella and spirulina powders
Ireland: Nutrisure sampling has detected sulphur dioxide in chlorella and spirulina powders.
Sulphites were not used in the production or processing of the powders and were detected in samples from different growers and different countries of origin.
Results were between 15-89 ppm with an average of 38 parts per million (ppm).
Sulphite allergy or intolerance sufferers are advised there may be a risk from any chlorella or spirulina product, even if it does not have a sulphite allergy warning.
