Cadmium levels in chocolate
France: Chapon branded chocolate has been recalled due to high levels of cadmium.
Chapon torréfaction longue 70% cacao with lot numbers 170414771, 170314771 and 170411771 and date 4/2019 is affected. It is from Colombia and was distributed to France, Germany, Netherlands and the US, according to the RASFF portal.
Cadmium was found in 0.899; 6.050 and 7.310 mg/kg - ppm in cocoa beans from Colombia, via the Netherlands.
Chocolat Chapon said the incident was 'totally beyond its control'.
