Food safety recall round-up 28 July - 3 August 2017
Acrylamide levels in biscuits
France: A Belkorn brand product for enfants has been recalled due to high levels of acrylamide.
'Biskids au jus de pommes concentré pour enfants de six mois et plus' 150g has lot number 164802 and date 29/11/2017.
The biscuits were sold by various retail stores. All distributors have been informed and products have been removed from sale.
An EU vote last month seems to be paving the way to require manufacturers to reduce acrylamide levels.
Acrylamide is a chemical compound formed during cooking at high temperatures and in dry conditions in products of plant origin and rich in sugars. Ingestion in high amounts is harmful to health.
