Possible Listeria in protein bars
US: Amrita Health Foods is recalling protein bars because they could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Recalled Amrita Bars were distributed across the country via retail stores, ecommerce and direct.
60g Chocolate Maca Bar, Dark Chocolate Quinoa, Sunflower Seed Butter and 50g Chocolate Chip Coconut, Mango Coconut, Apricot Strawberry, Pineapple Chia, Apple Cinnamon and Cranberry Raisin are affected.
They were produced from April 24 – May 31 with best buy dates of 4/24/2018 to 5/31/2018. No confirmed illnesses have been reported to date.
Hudson Valley Foods told Amrita Health Foods that sunflower seeds and sunflower seed butter sold to the company could be potentially contaminated after it did routine testing.
Amrita Health Foods ceased production and distribution upon receiving the news.
“We sincerely apologize for this situation that occurred with one of our ingredient suppliers. As soon as our team was notified, we immediately set our recall plan into action to ensure the safety and health of our customers,” said Arshad Bahl, CEO of Amrita Health Foods.
