Listeria in cookie dough pieces used in ice cream
US: Kraft Heinz has recalled 100,000 cases of Weight Watchers frozen desserts due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Weight Watchers Smart Ones Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sundae contains cookie dough pieces from Aspen Hills.
The supplier of the cookie dough pieces used in the frozen desserts reported positive test results for L. monocytogenes.
There have been no consumer complaints or reports of illness to date.
In related news, House of Flavors recalled its Ashby’s Sterling Peanut Butter Landslide Ice Cream as it was made with peanut butter cookie dough, purchased from Aspen Hills, which expanded its recall due to potential contamination with L. monocytogenes.
Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Company also recalled ice cream because they were made with a chocolate chip cookie dough ingredient supplied by Aspen Hills.
Cedar Crest Specialties recalled certain Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Monster Cookie and Pirate's Bounty ice cream flavors.
