Plant-based frozen food
Romania-headquartered Verdino Foods is rolling out a range of plant-based frozen food in Germany and the UK.
The pea-protein based range includes frozen pizzas, which the company says has ‘already garnered a loyal following’ in Spain, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
“The UK plant-based food market is continuing to grow and UK consumers account for 40% of the European meat substitute market, so the time is absolutely right for Verdino to launch,” said Verdino Country Manager for Uk & Ireland, Ian Bailey.
“Our core proposition is to offer a sustainable alternative to meat products based on pea protein. As well as appealing to vegans and vegetarians, our products are also popular with flexitarians who enjoy the taste and texture of meat but are looking for plant-based alternatives without having to compromise by having restricted choices about what they can eat.”
The frozen pizza range, available with five different plant-based toppings – Pepperoni, Deliciosa, Bacon, Mexicana, and PlanTuna – all have an RRP of £3.50.
