Food Safety Recall round-up 16-22 March 2018
Plastic contamination in sausage
US: Johnsonville LLC has recalled 109,603 pounds of smoked pork sausage that may be contaminated with hard plastic.
The fully cooked pork sausage items were produced on 4 January said the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS).
14-oz. plastic packs containing six pieces of “Jalapeno Cheddar Smoked Sausage” with best by date 4/4/2018 and Batch ID 1001124486 or 1001124487 shipped to retail nationwide are affected.
USDA-FSIS said the problem was discovered after the firm received three consumer complaints for pieces of hard, green plastic in the sausage product. There have been no confirmed reports of injury.
