High alcohol content in gin
Canada: Bombay Sapphire brand London Dry Gin is being recalled due to high alcohol content.
During production, one batch was bottled before correct dilution to achieve the stated 40% alcohol content by volume, so has an alcohol content by volume of 77%.
The Liquor Control Board Of Ontario (LCBO) issued the recall after consultation with Bacardi Canada and removed it from store shelves.
"This product is not safe for consumption. Consuming a product with an alcohol content of 77% could cause serious illness," it said.
The 1.14L bottle has code L16304 W and was distributed nationally at retail level. There have been no reported illnesses.
