Norway: Grupo Castro’s San Clemente branded Royal Gala red apples have been recalled due to pesticide residues in excess of legal limits.
The apples, distributed by Exotic Fruit AS, were sold from 1 June. Testing was carried out on 19 June, Norway’s food safety authority revealed.
The authorities said thiophanate methyl residues above legal limits were detected. Thiophanate methyl can be harmful to health and may affect the growth of young children, the safety watchdog warned. Adults are not in “immediate danger”, the body added.
