Food safety recall round-up 18-24 August 2017
Expanded recalled for yoghurt pouches
Australia: Parmalat Australia has expanded a recall of yoghurt pouches due to a packaging fault resulting in a potential choking hazard.
The firm said the yoghurt pouch products (go here for a list of flavours and dates affected) have a packaging issue involving faulty mushroom style cups.
Kids yoghurt pouches CalciYum, Woolworths and Aldi Brooklea brands have been sold nationally at retailers including Metcash/IGA, Foodworks, Foodland, Friendly Grocer 4 Square and/or Farmer Jacks, Woolworths and/or Aldi.
"Some of the mushroom style caps are failing when they are used to reseal the pouch, which may result in the top of the cap coming away. This poses a potential choking hazard due to its size," said Parmalat Australia.
"This recall is related to the packaging only, not the yoghurt itself. The product is expected back on the shelf over the coming days as the faulty caps are being replaced with a new design that does not have the same issue when resealing."
