Grippo Foods issues recall of chips due to metal fragment fears
US - Grippo Foods, Cincinnati, Ohio, is initiating a nationwide recall of all bags and boxes of their Plain Potato Chips, Bar-B-Q Potato Chips, Cheddar Cheese with a touch of Jalapeno Potato Chips, Hot Dill Pickle Potato Chips, Sweet Bermuda Onion Potato chips and Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips because they may contain metal fragments.
The recall includes bagged chips with an expiration date of 20 May and before and the 1.5 pound boxes of chips have an expiration date of 29 April and before.
These products were distributed to retail markets in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois beginning 15 September 2012 until 14 March 2013.
The firm voluntarily recalled the products after being notified by the Ohio Department of Agriculture that there were metal shavings found in the salt applicator.
