The big ad spender has reportedly joined the advertising boycott of Facebook, as organisers of the Stop Hate for Profit campaign group spread the call across the world.
Hershey Netherlands B.V. has signed an agreement to acquire an 80% stake in Chinese confectionery and snack firm Shanghai Golden Monkey Food Company (SGM) - and the remaining 20% in 2015.
Chocolate giants Hershey and Barry Callebaut, have teamed up for a
landmark partnership which will see the Swiss cocoa producer
providing the raw material for Hershey's chocolate products and
expanding facilities in South America.
In what will surely be seen as a victory for opponents to the sale,
Hershey Foods ended its controversial search for a buyer on Tuesday
after it rejected all bids for the confectionery manufacturer.
Shares in food giant Nestle jumped 2.8 per cent on Wednesday as
investors bet a US court would intervene in the sale of Hershey
Foods, reducing the odds that Nestle would overpay for the
chocolate icon.
The planned sale of Hershey Foods is expected to come under fire on
Friday from a broad coalition of the confectionery maker's hometown
neighbours, including workers, politicians, reform activists and
ordinary citizens.
