Confectionery has hit us with another cross-category collaboration and we’ve got to admit, we absolutely love this one!

Taking the trend into the lifestyle space, British sweet favourite Swizzels is partnering with Spanish home fragrance brand Cristalinas to launch three new sweet-scented diffusers and room sprays.

That’s right, confectionery is becoming an immersive experience. Though we’re not at all surprised, as we’ve already seen it pop up in cosmetics, fashion, film, and Formula 1.

Home fragrance is simply the latest frontier for brands looking to capitalise on the crossover trend, as manufacturers stretch into adjacent categories through licensing partnerships and brand collaborations.

“We’re always looking for new ways to extend our much-loved brands beyond the confectionery aisle, and Cristalinas’ expertise in home fragrance made them the perfect partner for this collaboration,” says Clare Newton, trade and shopper marketing manager at Swizzels.

The partnership also highlights the growing appeal of nostalgia-driven products, which continue to resonate with consumers seeking familiarity, comfort and indulgence during uncertain times.

And this isn’t just a clever marketing stunt, either. Cristalinas is a leading supplier of reed diffusers, producing high-quality home fragrances that last, meaning the partnership has credibility beyond the novelty.

“At Cristalinas, we’re committed to delivering high-quality fragrances while continuing to drive innovation and growth across the home fragrance category,” says Nick Jones, country manager for Cristalinas UK. “Our partnership with Swizzels allows us to bring some of the UK’s favourite confectionery brands into the home, creating a unique offering that benefits both the air care and confectionery sectors.”

The range currently features Swizzels’ Squashies Bubblegum, Squashies Strawberries & Cream, and Lemon Refreshers scents, with plans for expansion already in the works.

The move comes as manufacturers increasingly look beyond scale and instead focus on targeted growth opportunities that leverage the strength of existing brands. Licensing partnerships allow companies to diversify revenue streams, reach new consumer demographics and build brand relevance in categories far removed from their traditional roots.

And as the lines between food, beauty, fashion and lifestyle continue to blur, home fragrance could prove to be confectionery’s latest growth opportunity.
