Founded by Pierre Draps in 1926, iconic Belgian chocolatier Godiva is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
And, as one of the world’s biggest luxury chocolate brands, it’s doing it in style, with the release of an animated film telling the story of the brand over the past 100 years.
Narrated by actress Leighton Meester, and directed by Sam Taylor, the film’s said to be a “tribute to the role Godiva has played” in people’s lives.
“For 100 years, Godiva has been part of life’s most meaningful celebrations,” says Ahad Afridi, CMO of parent-company pladis. “As we mark our centennial, we’re honouring that legacy while continuing to inspire new ways to celebrate, connect, and indulge.”
The campaign reflects a broader shift in confectionery marketing, as brands turn to entertainment, celebrity partnerships and storytelling to connect with younger consumers while reinforcing their brand legacy.
Recent examples include Cadbury’s Premier League partnership, Ferrero’s FIFA World Cup campaign, Nestlé’s KitKat and Formula 1 collaboration, and M&M’s Love Island experience.
Godiva’s celebrations take place the same year as Mars, Inc celebrates its 115th birthday.

Godiva’s next 100
As Godiva enters its second century, the brand is balancing its rich heritage with a strategy designed to appeal to younger, experience-driven consumers.
While quality remains central to its identity, the centenary campaign demonstrates how the chocolatier is embracing digital storytelling, entertainment and cultural relevance to keep the brand contemporary.
At the same time, it continues to innovate through limited-edition launches, seasonal collections and premium gifting formats, reflecting growing demand for experiential indulgence and products that feel personal.
The result is a centenary strategy that looks beyond nostalgia, positioning Godiva for continued growth in an increasingly competitive premium confectionery market.
