BODYARMOR is expanding beyond traditional sports drinks with a sparkling format designed for everyday hydration rather than only workouts

BODYARMOR has introduced BODYARMOR FIT, its first sparkling sports drink in a 12 oz slim can, marking the company’s entry into canned hydration beverages aimed at everyday consumption beyond exercise, including work, travel and social settings.

The launch reflects growing convergence between sports drinks, functional beverages and sparkling refreshment as brands seek to create products for more everyday drinking occasions.

The company views the product as occupying a space between sports drinks, sparkling water and functional beverages rather than competing directly with energy drinks.

“The formulation and format are intentionally positioned for all-day use, not for the high-intensity, high-caffeine consumer that energy drinks typically target. We’re defining a new category at the intersection of everyday hydration and functional support, and that’s where we believe the biggest white space exists,” said VP of Brand Marketing Sara Weaver.

She added that the way people think about fitness has fundamentally shifted and is no longer defined by a single workout. People are staying active in different ways throughout the day, and BODYARMOR FIT was designed to fit seamlessly into those routines with a new sparkling format that still delivers functional hydration.

“It’s a mindset that shows up across the entire day, from early meetings to a packed social schedule. At the same time, consumers are moving toward beverages that feel lighter and more versatile. We saw a real gap at the intersection of sports drinks and functional beverages, a space where nothing was fully delivering on hydration, function, and refreshment in one experience. BODYARMOR FIT was built specifically for that opening,” said Weaver.

Designed for everyday hydration

BODYARMOR FIT is designed to support hydration and energy needs throughout the day, not just before a workout.

“The formulation had to be balanced and approachable for daily use. At 60mg caffeine per serve, this is a moderate, intentional level, comparable to a cup of green tea, designed to provide a light and functional lift without being overwhelming. Paired with 290mg of electrolytes, choline, and green tea extract, the caffeine is one part of a broader functional system rather than the lead ingredient,” Weaver said.

Beyond functionality, BODYARMOR is also positioning the product around its use of natural flavours and absence of artificial additives.

Clean-label positioning

BODYARMOR founder Mike Repole launched the brand with a focus on sports drinks made without artificial dyes, flavours or sweeteners, while incorporating potassium-rich electrolytes, antioxidants and coconut water.

“Clean label isn’t a trend, it’s a brand principle. BODYARMOR was founded on the belief that athletes and active consumers deserve better ingredients, and that commitment carries through every product we develop,” said Weaver.

“As we continue to innovate, clean formulation remains a non-negotiable. Consumers are more ingredient-literate than ever, and the brands that earn their trust long-term are the ones that don’t treat transparency as optional.”

She added that the firm’s current priority is establishing strong distribution and consumer trials domestically.

“A US-first approach allows us to build the brand foundation and refine the go-to-market model before evaluating international expansion. We won’t rule out future markets, but the focus right now is on executing well at home,” Weaver said.
