Mettler-Toledo Safeline said CaseChek uses a powerful x-ray to inspect cartons, cases as well as loose products. Contaminants, such as metal from machine parts can result in consumer injury and can lead to expensive product recalls and settlements. Using x-ray to scan finished products gives processors a final check that their products are free of certain contaminants before shipping. Using a dual vertical x-ray beam, CaseChek inspect products for metal, stone, glass, bone, and dense plastics at a rate of up to 30 meters (100 feet) per minute, claims the company. CaseChek has a user-friendly interface, which guarantees ease of operator training, the company claims. Through the use of a 15 inch full color touch screen display, it provides real automatic set-up software without the need for a keyboard. The system uses a low energy technology, which provides sensitivity, detection and automatically rejects a variety of contaminants. With Safeline's adaptive automatic product variation compensation software, multiple types of products can be run without changing settings or loss of sensitivity, ensuring uptime of production lines, the manufacturer claims.
