The developing Cyclospora illness was a story we followed all throughout the summer months and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officially declared the outbreak over in December.
A total of 631 people infected with Cyclospora cayetanensis were reported from 25 states and New York City.
In Texas some illnesses were linked to fresh cilantro from Puebla, Mexico.
In Iowa and Nebraska restaurant-associated cases linked to a salad mix produced by Taylor Farms de Mexico.
Eight percent of ill people were hospitalized but no deaths were reported and ill people ranged in age from less than 1 year to 94 years, with a median age of 52 years.
