Food Safety Recall round-up 5-11 January 2018
Potential Listeria in ice cream bars
US: Fieldbrook Foods Corporation has recalled all orange and chocolate coated vanilla ice cream bars produced last year from a single production line at one of its plants due to possible Listeria monocytogenes.
Products from the company’s Hoyer 1 Line at its Dunkirk, New York plant (code 362677) are affected.
Recalled items have production date of January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017 and “best by” date of January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018. Hood and Kemps products may show “best by” date of July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019.
Potential for contamination was noted after routine industry testing revealed L. monocytogenes in a few ice cream bar samples.
The firm said there is no evidence of contamination prior to October 31, 2017 but has issued the recall back to the start of 2017 through an abundance of caution and in cooperation with the FDA.
Production and distribution of items made on the factory line have been suspended as the source of the problem is investigated.
