Oat cricket protein breakfast

German insect protein brand Sens is rolling out a new breakfast product made from cricket protein and oats. The new Oat Cricket Protein Breakfast is available in two flavours: Apple & Cinnamon and Hazelnuts. Both contain oats and quinoa.

Ready in five minutes, the breakfast offering is ‘loaded’ with nutrients and is rich in protein.

“Compared with most of the protein breakfasts out there, it’s 100% natural – without artificial sugars and no chemicals, it doesn’t use milk derivates or soy and it’s gluten-free,” noted the start-up.

For those concerned about the taste profile of crickets first thing in the morning, Sens explained the product tastes ‘delicious’ even with just hot water. But for ‘maximum yumminess’, the start-up suggests consumers add seasonal fruits or walnuts. “You can also use plant-based milk. P.S: cricket protein only adds a nutritional boost and has no flavour.”

Sens’ Oat Cricket Protein Breakfast is available in 400g home compostable packaging.

Milliways is expanding its footprint in the UK with a listing at Sainsbury’s. The chewing gum brand is a 100% plastic-free and plant-based alternative to conventional gum, which it claims is made from single-use plastic and artificial ingredients.

“Milliways is on a mission to create a bite-sized revolution that has a real world impact. Conventional plastic-free gum still dominates the category, even though consumers are demanding better-for-you and more sustainable alternatives for everyday items,” said CEO and founder Tom Raviv.

“So, we invest considerably into ensure that our plant-based recipes deliver the quality and bursts of freshness that gum chewers expect, in our efforts to make plastic-free chewing gum the norm.”

Making Milliways available in Sainsbury’s to consumers across the country is a ‘huge step’ to leading innovation and change across the industry, he continued.

Milliways is available in four flavours: Peppermint, Mighty Mint, BubbleMint and Watermelon.

Prodigy rebrands: ‘Chocolate, only better’

Confectionery company Prodigy is rebranding with its ‘Chocolate, only better’ slogan. The rebrand has been first released across its chocolate bar portfolio but will soon see all products available with a new look.

The rebrand of the plant-based chocolate brand – which contains no refined sugar, artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohols – was overseen by co-founder Neena Vaswani who acts as Prodigy’s Strategy Director.

“It was important to us that the new Prodigy image pay homage to the bold and retro style seen in confectionery across the ages, while maintaining a contemporary feel for today’s market – bringing to life our ethos to make ‘chocolate, only better’. This new packaging has allowed us to stand out and move forward into the future of our impact-driven business.”

Business partner and husband Sameer Vaswani added that the rebrand has been a ‘major’ focus for Prodigy over the past year, and it has been rewarding to see such a positive reception.

“We’re excited to be expanding the rebrand to all ranges and current NPD in the pipeline as we continue to make our all-round-better chocolate available nationwide.”
