The National Office for Food Sanitary Safety (ONSSA) of Morocco has authorised the importation of day-old chicks and embryonated eggs from Brazil.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) announced the authorisation to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) who’s president Francisco Turra said would “strengthen Brazil’s position as an export platform for genetic material to the world”.

“Free from Avian Influenza and with one of the best health status among international poultry producers, Brazil will now have a new destination to ship products with high segmentation and added value. Brazilians and Moroccans will benefit from making these exports feasible,” said Turra.

The export request to the North African market was submitted by ABPA to MAPA in 2019. The feasibility of shipments depended on the constitution of an International Animal Health Certificate (CZI), which was finalised by the Brazilian and Moroccan authorities this year.
