The World Steak Challenge 2020 is just a few months away and this year’s chair of judges has been announced.

Chairing the judging team this year is celebrity chef and the world’s first Meatologist Ioannis Grammenos, who runs Heliot Steak House in London’s Hippodrome Casino. Grammenos has been part of the World Steak Challenge judging panel since the event’s inception in 2015.

The World Steak Challenge is open to beef producers, cattle farmers and ranchers, beef processors, steak brands, beef wholesalers and retailers from around the world. Entries will be accepted until the deadline on 11 May 2020, with the winner’s announcement taking place on 9 July 2020 at The Round Room at the historic Mansion House in Dublin.

As well as the sought-after overall World’s Best Steak title, all entries are assessed and the best performing are awarded gold, silver or bronze medals. Other categories up for grabs include the World’s Best Sirloin, World’s Best Rib-Eye, World’s Best Fillet, and Best Grain-fed and Best Grass-fed steaks.

Last year’s World’s Steak Challenge title was won by Finnish producer JN Meat International for its Grass-fed Rib-Eye steak, which also collected the Best Rib-Eye and Best Grass-fed steak accolades.

World Steak Challenge event director and organiser Sonia Young said: “We’re thrilled to launch this year’s World Steak Challenge and are looking forward to welcoming even more entries from even more countries this time around. The World Steak Challenge is the ultimate competition for steak producers and suppliers to showcase their product quality and breed credentials on an international stage, while also testing themselves against competitors from around the world.  I’d urge all companies thinking of entering to do so before the deadline closes.”

The World Steak Challenge 2020 is supported by judging partner Fire Restaurant & Lounge and official supplier Synergy Grills.
