The ‘Beirat’ will be headed by COO of Vion’s beef business division Bernd Stange. He will assume the position from July 2020 and be replaced in his current role by David de Camp who is the Northern Germany cluster director of the pork business unit. In turn, he will be replaced by Leon Cuypers, the current supply chain director at Vion.
The new Beirat will be in contact with external stakeholders and will advise Vion's executive board on business and social developments in Germany.
Together with the beef team, de Camp will focus on the introduction of the new Vion strategy, which consists of “building future-proof, sustainable food chains”.
These chains, called within Building Balanced Chains (Vion), are expected to lead to long-term relationships to give farmers a stable future and to offer customers more variety in the product range.
Vion CEO Ronald Lotgerink said: “By setting up a Beirat for Vion in Germany, we can strengthen our position in a turbulent market. It had been on my wish list for quite some time and I am pleased that one of our most seasoned and experienced directors, Bernd Stange, will become the first member and will advise the management committee. Bernd has built up a company in more than forty years that has become the market leader in beef in Germany. I am very grateful for that, as well as for his contributions to our activities in the past, now and in the future.
“I would also like to welcome David de Camp, who has been working in the German meat industry since the 1990s and has been employed by Vion since 2016. He will initially focus on becoming acquainted with the people and companies of Beef before taking over the helm as COO of this Business Unit in July. I also welcome Leon Cuypers, who will succeed David. I am happy that David and Leon are both from our own company. I believe that providing growth opportunities for our talented people is essential for our long-term success.”
