The company recently launched its latest addition, the Chickpea Naanster on-the-go vegan snack, catering for the growing flexitarian and vegan community in the UK, now available in Sainsbury’s.
The vegan Chickpea Naanster follows on from the success of the brand’s vegan Jackfruit Burrito launched in stores earlier this year.
Jake Karia, MD, Food Attractions, which owns Jake & Nayns’, said the business saw 57% growth, thanks to a number of retail deals selling its street-food-inspired snacks, including its flagship Naanster product and recently launched Burritos range.
The company has also scooped a number of wins, including winning IGD small business of the year; securing a deal in all UK major airports with WH Smiths; going international onboard commercial airline Virgin Atlantic to Mumbai; and garnering listings in Booker Wholesale Partners, Co-Op, Nisa and Spar.
All of which has seen the brand selling over 55,000 units per week.
“The last year has been phenomenal. We’ve seen significant growth across the business, launched a Burritos range and won five significant industry awards, but we’re not stopping there,” said Karia.
“The whole team has a passion and enthusiasm for food, which has driven us to continually innovate and develop new products.
“We are on a mission to shake up the category, bring new consumers into retail outlets and debunk the myth that food on-the-go is bad for you, proving there are satisfying, quick meals out there that aren’t full of fat, sugar and salt.”
To meet demand and to cater for further expansion, founders and brothers Jake and Naynesh have invested a seven-figure sum into the business, which enabled it to purchase the surrounding factories and land around its HQ in Leicestershire.
The brothers also made some recent hires, including Jonathan Rons who will look to grow the brand’s forecourt and independent channel offering; and Danny Abello to grow the wholesale business.
It also plans to disrupt the category further by expanding its line of curry filled naans with the launch of a special edition, mega-hot Naga Chilli Naanster this year.
