The company won a listing with its plant-based Moving Mountains burger and sausage in Jumbo in the Netherlands this year and hopes No-Pork burger will have the same appeal and attraction across Europe.

Moving Mountains, which is known for its vegetable burgers and hot dogs, is constantly developing alternative meat products.
“We have observed and analysed how meat is being produced, and tried to replicate the same process using plant-based ingredients. Subsequently, we use similar machinery as the meat industry, which allows us to reconstruct the meat blueprint, but without the use of animal products,” said Charlotte Robson, marketing manager, Moving Mountains.
“In terms of the ingredients, we use mushrooms to maintain the mouth-watering, succulent texture of meat, coconut oil, which provides a fatty, satisfying consistency, wheat and soy proteins to give a fibrous texture akin to the bite and depth of a traditional burger and beetroot juice which has a juicy ‘bleed’ at the centre of the patty and added succulence.”
Moving Mountains was present at Horecava (the Dutch fair for the catering industry, from January 13-16, in Amsterdam) and had a good number of visitors to its stand.
“Visitors were able to taste all the vegetable products from the Moving Mountains range, including No-Pork Burger, and they were pleasantly surprised,” said Robson.
Some of the feedback included people who were not vegan but they were interested to eat less meat and were ‘pleasantly surprised’ by the taste.
The standard burger of Moving Mountains is a vegetable substitute for beef burgers. The structure of the No-Pork Burger is a substitute for pork and contains ingredients like oyster mushrooms and beetroot, with no cholesterol and is free of hormones and antibiotics.
The No-Pork Burger is available as a 113.5g patty and as a smaller version, called "sausage patty" at 56g.
Moving Mountains creates meat substitutes that are not only popular with vegetarians and vegans but flexitarians and meat lovers.
