Spanish pork sector roadmap published
The new Extension of the Standard of Interporc is the result of the “important union and consensus of the entire white-coat pig production and industrial sector, which It allows us to join forces to work together in those aspects that today have made us world reference: food security, innovation, quality, animal welfare or environmental protection”.
Unveiled by Alberto Herranz, director of Interporc at the plenary meeting of the General Council of Interprofessional Agrifood Organizations, held at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the new Extension of Standard of Interporc for the next five years (2019-2024) was presented.
Herranz said “the new Extension of Interporc Standard with 2024 horizon is the result of the union and consensus of the entire pig sector”.
The document, which will replace the current Standard Extension, details the group’s roadmap for the next five years and sets the budget to carry out actions that affect the promotion of the consumption of pig meat in the internal market.
It also sets out the support for sectoral internationalization; the promotion and generic defense of the image of the sector and its livestock; support for livestock production, sustainability and sectoral crisis management; the empowerment of quality and technological innovation; and knowledge optimization and information transparency of the Spanish white-coat pig sector
Herranz stressed that “the pig sector has become one of the great world leaders thanks to the effort made every day by the workers of all links in the value chain, from producers to industries, through carriers, distributors or retailers”.
He added that Interporc “cannot do anything other than correspond to all of them with the same determination, through all the actions included in the new Extension of the Standard and that will allow to give stability to the work that we have been doing for the benefit of the whole sector ”.
